The Bokamoso Private Hospital was initiated principally by two insurance plans (BPOMAS and Pula) and approved by the government in 2007

• The two funds have provided all the equity financing for the project
• Debt financing has been secured for all remaining finance needs

BPOMAS

• Botswana Public Officers' Medical Aid Scheme was established in 1990
• Covers government employees and their dependents
• 146,000 beneficiaries enrolled

PULA

• Pula Medical Aid Fund was established in 1991
• Covers privately employed individuals and their dependents
• 31,000 beneficiaries enrolled

Doctors At The Bokamoso Private Hospital

Employed Doctors/ Professionals

• Work full time at Bokamoso facilities (inpatient and ambulatory)
• Report to a Department Chair (all of whom will be employed)

Independent Doctors / Professionals

• May maintain own office, own clinic, but with a center of professional work at Bokamoso facilities.
• Work closely with other specialists at Bokamoso so that they are integrated with the hospital and other staff.
• Participate in call schedule.
• Also report to the Department Chair. Must maintain skills and responsibility for clinical quality, etc.

Other Admitting Doctors / Professionals

• Have admitting privileges at the hospital, and are credentialed to do so by the Hospital
• Report to the Department Chair, have to meet hospital medical staff requirements
• May or may not participate in call schedule
